Planes is an upcoming animated comedy adventure by Disney that features a plane named Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) who has “dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer.” It arrives in theaters on August 9, 2013 (trailer).
…But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
In the humorous and slightly twisted animated music video for “Fight for Everyone” by The Leisure Society, a magic hand builds a world and then witnesses it all fall apart. Adorable animated destruction ensues. The video was created by British animation studio Persistent Peril. “Fight for Everyone” is on The Leisure Society’s upcoming album Alone Aboard the Ark, available April 16, 2013.

“Paperman Threesome” is a parody by CollegeHumor of Disney’s Oscar-winning animated black and white short,Paperman. It humorously imagines an awkward ending where a third party wants an unexpected three-way with the film’s couple. The parody was written by Kevin Corrigan and Owen Parsons and directed by Sam Reich.

Turbo is an upcoming DreamWorks Animation film directed by David Soren (veteran DreamWorks animator) that tells the tale of an ordinary garden snail named Turbo who dreams of becoming a speedy racer. The film offers an outstanding voice cast, including: Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Bill Hader, Ken Jeong, Maya Rudolph, Snoop Dogg,Samuel L. Jackson and many more. Turbo is set to be released in theaters on July 19, 2013. Here is the official Turboplot summary from DreamWorks Animation:
Turbo is a snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, 5-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagne. Antonio Toscano did a fantastic job of creating a stop-motion animated LEGO version of the official Star Trek Into Darkness trailer that was released by Paramount Pictures this past December. You may remember when we posted about Antonio’s LEGO version of the Man Of Steel Trailer 2. You can view the original trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness below (due out in theaters on May 17, 2013).
The inspiration in the strata stencil technique helps conceptualize the repetition of layers as the past of our movements and actions. The frames depicted as jail and the past as a burden serve as the background for the story of a ballerina on a journey towards freedom. A diversified artistic experimentation recreates the tempest that connects bird and dancer.
Legacy is a 3D animated short film by writer and filmmaker Grzegorz Jonkajtys about an alien who travels to planet Earth to retrieve a human specimen. It took 3 months to complete the short film and it won the 2008 “Uplift Universe CGChallenge XXII Video Awards” at CGSociety in the individual video category.
When I Grow Up is a delightfully inspirational animated short by The Academy, akin to Dr. Seuss’s classic Oh, the Places You’ll Go! The short is directed, written, and animated by Colin Hesterly and scored by Cyrille Machesseau. Narrator Bob Michaels’ soothing voice encourages you to “shoot for the moon,” and reminds you that even when “the going gets tough, keep pushing on because there’s a world of mysteries left for you to solve.”
“Adam and Dog” is a beautifully animated short film by artist Minkyu Lee that puts an original spin on the biblical story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and adds in man’s best friend, the dog. The short is nominated for a 2013 Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category. Animation for Adam and Dog was a group effort by Minkyu Lee, Jennifer Hager, James Baxter, Mario Furmanczyk, Austin Madison and Matt Williames.
